The house

Live with the locals. If you want to get to know the everyday life of the Cretans, this is the place for you. Not in a hotel far away from the everyday life of the locals, but together with the Cretans you live in Nikolakakis between olive groves on the outskirts of Chania.

The entire house was completely renovated in 2016. All apartments are individually furnished with a lot of love and have a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, air conditioning and heating. The Hellas and Plateia apartments are located on the ground floor of the house and have a separate area in the courtyard with seating. The Elies apartment is on the first floor of the house. From the three balconies you have a view of the mountains and the sea. The Chania apartment is on the second floor. Just like the Elies apartment, it has two bedrooms and is therefore ideal for families or groups of friends. There is ample parking space in front of the house for all guests.

The Pasakaki neighbourhood is located on the outskirts of Chania with views of the White Mountains, the sea and the city. A lively neighborhood with a corner store instead of a supermarket chain, a bakery with probably the best paximadi – the typical Cretan bread, a cafe, a taverna and the essential Greek periptero – the kiosk where you can get just about anything. There is also a weekly market in the area every Wednesday, selling everything from fruit and vegetables, flowers, honey and cheese to shoes, tablecloths and household goods.

The Nikolakakis is an ideal starting point for exploring the city of Chania with its Venetian harbour, the beautiful old town or the award-winning sandy beaches. But also to set off on hikes or cycling tours in the nearby White Mountains. From here, you can reach Chania’s sandy beaches and the city center in just a few minutes by car. The house has good access to the highway that runs to the north of the island. There is a bus right in front of the house that will take you to the old town. However, the quickest and most convenient way to get around is by rental car. The ferry port is about 15 minutes away and the international airport of Chania about half an hour by car. Heraklion airport is approx. 150 km away.
